In a disturbing turn of events, an individual impersonating a police officer has targeted dozens of female students from Government Mankunwar Bai Women College in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The impostor accused them of posting obscene photos and videos online and demanded money to avoid legal action.

Over the past four days, the students received numerous threatening calls and messages from the man, who identified himself as 'police officer Vikram Goswami', said Jabalpur Superintendent of Police Aditya Pratap Singh. The caller used a link containing objectionable images and videos, further intimidating the students by threatening to involve their parents and promising police visits to their homes.

Police believe the criminal utilized artificial intelligence technology to fabricate the incriminating media. An FIR has been lodged under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 318 and Information Technology Act sections 66 and 67. Investigations are ongoing to identify the fraudster and determine how the students' phone numbers were obtained, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Sonakshi Saxena.
