Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra on Sunday emphasized that the assembly polls are not just about forming a government but also about the restoration of statehood, the assembly's powers, and the region's lost dignity.
Karra remained non-committal about whether the chief minister would be from the National Conference (NC) if the Congress-NC alliance wins, stating that future outcomes post-elections could not be forecasted. He expressed confidence that the alliance would secure a majority in the 90-member assembly and downplayed the impact of the Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP.
Speaking on the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), Karra asserted that it is a 'closed case' with no future, criticizing its attempts to cause fragmentation. He also condemned the BJP's handling of Jammu and Kashmir's governance and security, attributing failures to their political motivations. Karra concluded that the assembly election's primary focus is on restoring statehood, powers, and dignity, not just development.
