Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that statehood would be restored following assembly elections, which he noted is the first under the national flag and Constitution since the abrogation of Article 370.

He accused the Congress-National Conference alliance of trying to revert to an old system that would push the region into terrorism and corruption.

Shah, during a two-day visit to Jammu to support the BJP's election campaign, promised no return of terrorism and emphasized overall development and justice, including reservations for Gujjars, Paharis, Bakerwals, and Dalits.
