Donald Trump's legal team has made an appeal to a federal court seeking to overturn a jury's $5 million verdict against the former President. The verdict found Trump guilty of sexually assaulting and defaming writer E. Jean Carroll, stemming from accusations dating back nearly three decades.

The appeal was presented to a three-judge panel at the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan. Trump's defense argued that U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan, who oversaw the previous trials, made errors in admitting testimony from other women who accused Trump of misconduct.

Trump's lawyer, John Sauer, labeled the case as fabricated and politically motivated, with added evidence from unrelated sexual misconduct allegations serving to inflame the jury. The appeal is part of a broader defense against multiple legal challenges facing Trump, including other defamation cases and criminal trials.
