The BJP on Friday heightened its demands for the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, asserting that an impartial investigation into the Kolkata medic rape-murder case is unattainable while she remains in office.
Following allegations by the victim's family that Kolkata Police hastily cremated the body, BJP spokesperson and Lok Sabha MP Sambit Patra voiced the party's concerns at a press conference in Delhi. According to Patra, the victim's father revealed efforts by the police to offer him money to suppress the case.
Patra highlighted the demolition of a doctors' room and toilets near the crime scene, questioning the urgency and motive behind such actions. He demanded the retrieval of call records between Banerjee and Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal to uncover potential involvement in the alleged cover-up.
