Rupali Patil Thombare, a leader of Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and state spokesperson, has raised objections to the possible nomination of Rupali Chakankar for the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Chakankar currently holds the posts of Maharashtra State President of the NCP Women's Wing and Chairperson of the State Women Commission.

Thombare Patil voiced her concerns on Facebook, questioning why Chakankar was being considered for the MLC nomination despite already holding significant positions within the party and government. She stressed the importance of adhering to the 'one person, one post' principle and called for equal opportunities for other capable and hard-working women in the NCP.

Thombare's objections have sparked broader queries about the party's selection process. Several grassroots party workers from Pune have also expressed their desire for City President Deepak Mankar to be allotted one of the MLC posts. They argue that their loyalty to Ajit Pawar and their hard work during the recent Lok Sabha elections should be recognized.
