In a sharp rebuke, Bangladesh's interim government head, Muhammad Yunus, has urged former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to cease making political statements from India, labeling her actions as an 'unfriendly gesture.' He stressed that her silence is imperative to prevent discomfort between the two nations until Dhaka formally requests her extradition.

Yunus, in an interview with PTI, emphasized the importance of unity between India and Bangladesh, urging New Delhi to move beyond narratives that paint all Bangladeshi political entities, except the Awami League, as Islamist threats. He underscored the need for a balanced view to foster better diplomatic relations.

The Nobel laureate also called for a re-evaluation of critical bilateral treaties, such as transit agreements and the contentious Adani electricity deal, reflecting growing public demand for scrutiny. His comments come amid rising political tension following anti-government protests and Hasina's asylum in India.
