The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, inviting three crucial ministries for presentations. JPC Chairman and BJP MP Jagdambika Pal emphasized the significance of the meeting, stating that the Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Railways, and Ministry of Transport have been asked to present their views. 'We are talking to a lot of stakeholders and our effort is to engage as many stakeholders as possible,' Pal mentioned.

Shiv Sena leader and JPC member Naresh Mhakse urged participants to voice their opinions peacefully and avoid causing disruptions. Speaking to ANI, Mhakse remarked, 'The committee is formed to discuss the amendment bill, and one should present their views calmly. Unfortunately, the opposition is using this as an opportunity for political theatrics.' He added that there would be discussions on land encroachment issues affecting multiple departments.

Mhakse also argued that the bill aims to benefit the poor and Muslim women, countering opposition claims that it is against Muslims. He accused the Congress party of historically spreading hate and misleading the public on constitutional safety for electoral gain. 'Congress has always played divisive politics. They misled people during Maharashtra elections by claiming that the constitution was under threat,' Mhakse stated.
