In a sharp attack on the Mahayuti government, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey criticized the administration for neglecting law and order in favor of political maneuvering. Dubey highlighted a shooting incident in Badlapur that led to public unrest, accusing the government of sidelining public welfare.
Dubey questioned Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis's oversight, stating, "Law and order have collapsed in Maharashtra. The government is busy playing politics and breaking parties instead of ensuring safety." He pointed out persistent issues at railway stations and bus stands, emphasizing a surge in criminal activities.
Fellow party leader Sanjay Raut also condemned the Eknath Shinde government in light of a sexual assault case involving two minors in Badlapur. Raut questioned the disappearance of CCTV footage, hinting at a cover-up, and demanded accountability from the Chief Minister and Home Minister. The Bombay High Court suggested forming a committee to establish Standard Operating Procedures for handling such cases.
The Thane Court approved a test identification parade for the accused, which led to their psychological profiling to aid further investigation. The case has ignited widespread protests across the state, with the public demanding swift justice.
