Efforts to form an alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress for the upcoming Haryana Assembly polls are gathering pace, insider sources reveal. Senior leaders from both parties have already engaged in talks regarding seat-sharing arrangements.
The AAP is demanding to contest 10 out of the 90 available seats, while the Congress is willing to concede only seven, according to sources from AAP. Key figures including Raghav Chadha from AAP and KC Venugopal from Congress have already met for discussions and are expected to reconvene in the coming days.
AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has welcomed reports suggesting that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is considering an alliance. However, the final decisions are pending approval from AAP's national convener Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently incarcerated on charges related to excise policy. Local Congress leaders in Haryana have so far dismissed the likelihood of such an alliance, claiming the party is strong enough to contest independently.
