The deadlock between the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP in the Himachal Pradesh assembly ended on Tuesday. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu assured the house that his government was ready to discuss all issues raised by the BJP, including the financial position, under rule 67 (adjournment motion).

Urging the opposition to cooperate in the smooth conduct of proceedings, Sukhu emphasized that the house operates under established rules and that the speaker provided ample opportunities for discussion. He suggested that the impasse could have been avoided had the opposition raised its issues appropriately.

The session began with Jai Ram Thakur, leader of the opposition, raising the issue of the deadlock. He noted that an adjournment motion to discuss the financial situation wasn't allowed previously and that the opposition sought to discuss non-payment of salaries and pensions.

Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania defended his impartial conduct, rejecting a no-confidence motion against him due to procedural faults. He declared himself ready to clarify his previous remarks in a press conference if needed, acknowledging the misuse of words for political gain during elections.
