Nilu Yadav, the brother of rape accused Nawab Singh Yadav, surrendered in court on Tuesday after being wanted for pressuring the rape survivor's aunt to alter her statement.

The police had announced a bounty of Rs 25,000 for Nilu Yadav's capture. He surrendered before Judge Alka Yadav at the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court and was subsequently sent to jail.

Authorities will soon file a charge sheet against him, and the case will proceed in a fast-track court. Nawab Singh Yadav, a former Samajwadi Party member, was arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in Kannauj under the guise of providing her employment.

Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar confirmed that Nilu Yadav was wanted for pressuring the rape survivor's aunt to change her testimony, impacting the investigation.

The DNA of Nawab Singh Yadav matched with samples collected in the rape case, triggering political controversy, with the ruling BJP accusing the Samajwadi Party of association. The party has distanced itself from Yadav.
