In a sharp critique of the BJP-led government in Odisha, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Rajya Sabha MP Sulata Deo on Monday alleged a deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Deo stated that a team of BJD members had recently met with the Director General of Police (DGP) to discuss the pressing issues.

Deo remarked, 'Since the BJP came to power, the law and order situation in the state has been worsening. We met the DGP today and submitted a memorandum outlining our concerns.' She cited numerous incidents, including violence by the governor's son in Puri, communal strife, and the liquor tragedy in Ganjam, as evidence of the declining situation.

BJD leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar also criticised the BJP government for its failure to curb crimes against women. Recounting several cases including the brutal assault and murder of a minor girl in Balasore, Samantsinghar accused the government of neglect and inaction. The BJD leaders' allegations come amid broader claims of failed governance and unmet expectations from the so-called 'double-engine' BJP administration.
