In Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a deadly attack claimed the lives of two policemen and injured another. The unidentified assailants struck in the early hours of Tuesday in Daraban Kalan, near South Waziristan. The attackers fled the scene, prompting police to initiate a search operation.

Splinter groups of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) are believed to be highly active in the region, frequently targeting security forces. Eyewitnesses report that the Taliban often take control of local roads, especially in the evenings, where they conduct vehicle checks.

A report from the provincial Directorate of Information revealed that security operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa led to the deaths of 270 terrorists in the last year, including 32 militants with bounties on their heads. Despite the success, the violence has taken a heavy toll on law enforcement, with 149 police officers killed and 232 injured.
