Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera criticized Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday for allegedly spreading fake narratives regarding the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue in Sindhudurg district. This incident has deeply saddened many Indians who hold Shivaji in high regard.

During a press conference, Khera accused the current corrupt administration of succeeding where even the Mughals had failed in undermining the legacy of the legendary warrior king. He also refuted Fadnavis's claims about late Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru portraying Shivaji in a negative light in 'The Discovery of India'.

In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's apology, Khera stated that it was dismissive and demanded accountability for the incident. The Congress leader emphasized that Shivaji Maharaj belongs to all of India and criticized the government for the statue's collapse, which occurred eight months after PM Modi unveiled it at Rajkot fort in Malvan tehsil.
