Assam TMC President Resigns, Citing Perception Challenges

Ripun Bora, President of the Assam Trinamool Congress (TMC), announced his resignation on Sunday, pointing to the party's perception issues in the state. Assam residents reportedly see TMC as a regional party from West Bengal, hindering its acceptance.
In his resignation letter to All India Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee, Bora expressed his frustration. He noted that numerous suggestions offered to party leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to mitigate this perception were ignored.
Bora advocated for appointing an Assamese leader at the national level and transforming key cultural sites in Assam to improve TMC's image. After persistently seeking meetings with Abhishek and Mamata Banerjee to discuss these issues over the past year and a half, Bora's efforts remained unacknowledged, pushing him to step down.
