Former Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has called for independent MLA Umesh Kumar to substantiate his allegations of a conspiracy to overthrow the Dhami government. Rawat emphasized that such statements made on the floor of the Uttarakhand Assembly must be backed by proof.

Speaking to reporters in Mussoorie, Rawat questioned Kumar's credibility and experience. The Haridwar MP pointed out the gravity of the allegation and noted the lack of immediate reaction from other members in the assembly. This, he said, warrants a thorough investigation.

Umesh Kumar, a former journalist now representing the Khanpur constituency, claimed during the Assembly's recent monsoon session that a firm was willing to spend Rs 500 crore to unseat the current government. Rawat stressed the importance of taking such statements seriously and called for intelligence agencies to probe the matter. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed that the issue would be investigated.
