The Election Commission has taken serious note of a social media post by the Haryana unit of the BJP in which a child was featured in a campaign video. The EC served a notice to the party's state president, demanding 'immediate corrective steps.'
The use of children in campaign activities is a violation of the Election Commission's guidelines. The state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been directed to submit his response to the show-cause notice by 6 pm on Thursday.
The notice was issued by the state's chief electoral officer after reviewing a video posted by the Haryana BJP on its official X handle. In February, the poll panel had explicitly directed political parties and candidates to avoid using children in political campaigns and rallies.
