Actor and CPI(M) MLA M Mukesh is at the center of a political storm in Kerala following allegations of sexual harassment. Both the Congress and BJP factions in the state have demanded his resignation, sparking a debate across party lines.
Responding to these demands, Kerala Forest Minister A K Saseendran emphasized that both Mukesh and the complainant should be allowed the chance to prove their claims. He noted that the decision to resign rests solely with Mukesh.
Contrary to the support from some quarters, the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, V D Satheesan, accused central BJP minister Suresh Gopi of attempting to shield Mukesh. Gopi, however, maintained that the issue is before the court, indicating that the legal system should handle the matter. Meanwhile, the BJP's state president K Surendran reiterated the party's stand that Mukesh should step down, yet also suggested that media personnel exercise caution.
