Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has called on the opposition to bring forward all public concerns during the ongoing monsoon session of the state assembly. 'This will aid the government in better serving the populace,' he said, citing 10 organized meetings aimed at making the session historic.

Highlighting the tradition of extended Vidhan Sabha sessions in Himachal Pradesh, CM Sukhu noted that most state assemblies usually convene for 6 to 8 days. 'Here, sessions last 10 days thanks to the Speaker's efforts. We hope the opposition's participation will enhance governance,' he added, urging active involvement from the opposition members.

The monsoon session commenced with a ceremonial start as CM Sukhu arrived at the Vidhan Sabha, greeted by a guard of honour and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan. Despite expressing disappointment over the opposition's no-show at an all-party meeting, Sukhu urged them to engage meaningfully in the 10-day session to address state issues.

Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur led an aggressive stance, signaling plans to challenge the government on multiple fronts. Thakur criticized the Congress government for unmet promises and questioned its economic management. 'The opposition said Congress won't fulfill its guarantees even in 10 lifetimes, and this is becoming evident,' he stated.

Thakur also highlighted concerns about law and order, corruption, and benefits for state employees under the previous BJP government. The opposition's active role promises a contentious but crucial session for Himachal Pradesh's governance.
