A Venezuelan electoral official has publicly criticized last month's election, citing a 'grave lack of transparency and veracity.' The official, Juan Carlos Delpino, criticized the process that declared President Nicolás Maduro as the winner, even though strong evidence suggested otherwise.
Delpino, the sole dissenting member of the National Electoral Council, detailed several irregularities and the slow reporting from automated voting machines. He accused the authorities of violating electoral rules, leading to doubts among Venezuelans and international observers.
Despite Delpino's protest, the Venezuelan Supreme Court certified the results. Calls, including from Delpino, for Maduro to release the voting records remain unheeded, fueling the opposition's claims and public unrest.
