An FIR has been registered against 12,000 individuals, including 51 identified persons, for their involvement in a clash with police during a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) rally in Jharkhand's capital, Ranchi. Among those named in the FIR are prominent BJP leaders, including the party's Jharkhand unit president Babulal Marandi, Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri, Union Minister Sanjay Seth, and former Central Minister Arjun Munda, officials confirmed.
Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Kumar Sinha stated that the FIR was lodged at Ranchi's Lalpur Police Station based on the magistrate's statement. 'Action against these individuals will be taken soon,' he added.
The FIR filing followed a scuffle between police and BJYM members during a protest rally against the perceived 'injustice' by the Hemant Soren government and its unfulfilled election promises. Police used tear gas, water cannons, and rubber bullets to control the situation, resulting in injuries on both sides. The district administration had invoked prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, banning gatherings within a 500-meter radius of the Morabadi Ground during the rally.
