Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and its leader, Rahul Gandhi, over their alliance with the National Conference (NC) ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Majhi accused the Congress of being 'blind for power' and fostering 'anarchy, disorder, instability, and enmity' in the country.
In a social media video, Majhi demanded Rahul Gandhi to clarify Congress's stance on Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated his accusation that the Congress party consistently 'endangered the interests of the people and the security of the nation' by partnering with 'divisive and anti-national elements.' According to Majhi, the Congress-NC alliance threatens national security and sovereignty.
The announcement of the pre-poll alliance followed a meeting between Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge with NC chief Farooq Abdullah. The alliance, which will contest all 90 seats in the upcoming polls, marks the first Jammu and Kashmir assembly election since the abrogation of Article 370. The elections are set to be held in three phases, beginning September 18, with results expected on October 4.
