Rajasthan's BJP government has lifted the 52-year-old ban preventing government employees from participating in RSS activities. The Rajasthan BJP government has officially lifted the longstanding ban on government employees participating in activities related to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). This decision was announced by Joint Secretary of the Department of Personnel, Rajendra Singh Kavia, through a recently issued circular.
The circular lifts a 52-year-old ban that was initially implemented in 1972 and later reinforced in 1981. The decision comes after a review of these past directives, culminating in the removal of RSS from the list of organizations deemed restricted for government employees.
This move aligns Rajasthan with several other states like Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, which have previously revoked similar restrictions. Notably, the Centre had already lifted a similar ban that had been in place since November 1966 during Indira Gandhi's tenure as Prime Minister.
