Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, along with party leaders and workers, staged a protest in Mumbai against the Badlapur incident, where two minor girls were allegedly sexually assaulted at a local school. Speaking on the issue, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi highlighted the growing number of atrocities against women and children in Maharashtra.
Thackeray and his party are not alone in their dissent; the Nationalist Congress Party (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar, along with other Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders, also staged a protest in Pune. Sharad Pawar emphasized the importance of taking these incidents seriously, criticizing the government's response to the issue.
MP Supriya Sule condemned the government's insensitivity and vowed continuous protests until the accused are arrested. The controversy intensified following an arrest of a school attendant on August 17, and the registration of an FIR against the school authorities for failing to comply with the POCSO Act.
