Assam Ministers Pledge Justice for Dhing Gang Rape Victim

Keshab Mahanta, a Cabinet Minister in Assam, met the family of a minor gang rape victim in Nagaon on Saturday, promising government protection and a thorough search for other suspects. The young girl was assaulted by three men on August 22 while returning from tuition classes.
Mahanta stated, 'Our government will protect every woman and will not compromise. We will find the other accused as well.' He added that he would discuss the public's needs with the Chief Minister.
Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika also visited the survivor at a hospital, ensuring her family that strict action would be taken. He posted on X, confirming the victim's recovery and pledging that the perpetrators will face justice.
Locals discovered the girl in a semi-conscious state by the road and admitted her to the hospital. Police later found the body of the prime suspect in a pond after he escaped from custody. Superintendent of Police Swapnaneel Deka reported that Tafazul Islam had been arrested in connection with the case. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the need for prompt action in such cases.
