The alliance between the National Conference and Congress in Jammu and Kashmir is predicted to collapse and face a humiliating defeat in the upcoming assembly elections, according to BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh.

Chugh noted that the alliance has been consistently rejected by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He stated that the Congress failed to secure a single seat in the last Lok Sabha elections, while the National Conference, led by the Abdullahs, suffered a significant defeat. Chugh cited the past rejection of the Gupkar alliance in local elections and questioned the effectiveness of the new INDI block formed for the Lok Sabha elections.

Opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Malikarjun Kharge recently visited Jammu and Kashmir, but Chugh dismissed Gandhi's visit as a leisure trip, emphasizing that the improved security situation in the region was a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

Chugh commended Modi's transformative policies that have contributed to the BJP's growing popularity and strong presence in Jammu and Kashmir. He criticized the Congress for attempting alliances with parties already dismissed by the electorate, arguing it reflects the party's desperation.

In contrast to the political maneuvering, Rahul Gandhi assured voters that the restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir remains a priority for Congress and the opposition INDIA bloc. During his visit, Gandhi also confirmed an alliance with the National Conference after discussions with its leaders, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, who later announced their seat-share arrangement with the Congress. The assembly polls will be conducted in three phases this September, with vote counting in October.
