Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday commended the Narendra Modi government for its consistent efforts to uplift backward classes, accusing the Congress-led opposition of offering mere 'lip service' to the cause.
Addressing a party function in memory of freedom fighter Ramphal Mandal, Chouhan highlighted the historical and ongoing contributions of the backward 'dhanuk' class in nation-building both in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.
Chouhan lauded Modi for providing 27% reservation to OBCs in entrance tests like NEET and granting constitutional status to the National OBC Commission, contrasting this with Congress's inaction on the Kalelkar Commission's recommendations. He stressed the government's commitment to various schemes, including building 13 lakh houses for the homeless and encouraging women's entrepreneurship.
