The BJP on Friday staged a protest outside the Delhi government's social welfare department, demanding the AAP-led administration release overdue old-age pensions.

Leading the protest, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accused the AAP government of corruption and indifference to public welfare, asserting it had no right to govern.

Sachdeva claimed that senior citizens had not received pensions for seven to eight months.

In response, Delhi Finance Minister Atishi announced that the pending pensions for one lakh beneficiaries, overdue for five months, had been disbursed.

She blamed the delay on the BJP-led central government for not releasing its contribution, a claim Sachdeva refuted by stating the Delhi government acted only after BJP pressure.

Several senior BJP leaders, including Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta, Lok Sabha MP Yogender Chandolia, former MP Ramesh Bidhuri, and Delhi BJP general secretary Vishnu Mittal, were also present at the protest.
