Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Ukraine is seen as a landmark moment in India's diplomatic efforts to mediate in the region's ongoing conflict. Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Sasmit Patra emphasized the visit's crucial role in positioning India as a major force for world peace.

Patra noted that despite India's perceived closeness to Russia, Modi's visit to Ukraine helps strike a balance, reinforcing India's commitment to peace and tranquillity. Modi's advocacy for mediation and conciliation instead of war highlights his vision for conflict resolution.

During the historic visit, Modi met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv and laid floral tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi memorial.
