The opposition BRS has announced state-wide protests on August 22, calling for unconditional implementation of a farm loan waiver by the Congress government in Telangana.
BRS Working President K T Rama Rao, in a press conference, accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his ministers of 'deceiving' farmers on the promised loan waiver of up to Rs 2 lakhs.
''The BRS will hold state-wide protests at mandal centres on August 22 against the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues for failing to fulfill their crop loan waiver promise. The government had set deadlines on December 9 and August 15 but failed to deliver,'' said Rama Rao.
He demanded that the government announce a timeframe for the complete and unconditional implementation of the crop loan waiver scheme. Replying to a query, Rama Rao clarified he leased a friend's farmhouse and welcomed the government to demolish any illegal farmhouses owned by anyone, including Congress Ministers. In his statement to PTI, Rao alleged the government's loan waiver is a fraud and committed to continuing protests until their Rs 2 lakh loan waiver promise is honored.
