The Gujarat assembly's three-day monsoon session will commence on Wednesday in Gandhinagar, where the opposition Congress has raised concerns over its short duration and requested the Speaker to facilitate discussions on pressing public issues.

Citing numerous rejected short-notice questions, Congress Legislature Party leader Amit Chavda met with Speaker Shankar Chaudhary to address these grievances, suggesting that ministers were avoiding debate.

The fifth session of the 15th Gujarat assembly, convened by Governor Acharya Devvrat, will run from August 21 to August 23. Controversy looms as the Bharatiya Janata Party retains a commanding majority with 161 out of 182 seats, dwarfing the Congress's 12 legislators.
