Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday criticized Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, asserting that he should operate as a representative of the President of India rather than the central government.
During a media briefing, Siddaramaiah remarked that Gehlot's selective approach, particularly in granting prosecution sanctions, was problematic. The Chief Minister highlighted how the Governor sanctioned an investigation against him swiftly, while requests to prosecute other political figures, including a Union Minister, faced delays.
Siddaramaiah has challenged the Governor's decision legally, arguing that it violates constitutional principles. The High Court has temporarily deferred proceedings against him, while the BJP calls for his resignation to ensure an unbiased investigation.
