In a significant political development, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has summoned a Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting on August 22, following Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's go-ahead for his prosecution in the widely-discussed Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam.

A statement from the Chief Minister's office noted that the crucial meeting will be held at Vidhana Souda's conference hall. Karnataka's Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology, Priyank Kharge, highlighted the necessity of this meeting, stating, "Given the uproar over the governor's role, it's essential to inform our elected representatives about the unfolding events."

The MUDA controversy involves allegations of Siddaramaiah's wife benefiting from compensatory site allocations in a prime Mysuru location, leading to claims of a Rs 4,000 crore to Rs 5,000 crore scandal. The Congress government has initiated an inquiry led by Justice P N Desai, while the Chief Minister has firmly denied any wrongdoing.
