Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri on Friday condemned the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in West Bengal, emphasizing the gravity of such a crime occurring in a state governed by a woman chief minister.

The entire nation should raise its voice against this heinous act, she asserted, highlighting the need for societal changes to curb such incidents.

Khanduri, the first woman speaker of the Uttarakhand Assembly, stressed that women seek only equal rights and nothing more. She noted that mothers and teachers play pivotal roles in instilling social change, given their significant influence on children.
