Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday led a high-level meeting to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir amid a surge in terrorist incidents.
Present were National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Defense Secretary Giridhar Aramane, and heads of related security and intelligence agencies.
The defense minister directed efforts to bolster the security apparatus in the region and called for enhanced coordination among various agencies, sources revealed. Special focus was given to areas with recent terror incidents.
The meeting, happening just before Independence Day, highlighted the government's resolve to eradicate terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.
