Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, is set to return to her homeland once the newly established caretaker government, under the leadership of Nobel Peace laureate Muhammad Yunus, announces elections.

Hasina sought refuge in neighboring India after weeks of violent protests led to her resignation. The interim government was sworn in on Thursday and has the mandate to organize elections.

In an interview with the Times of India, Hasina's son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, who resides in the United States, stated, "For the time being, she (Hasina) is in India. She will go back to Bangladesh the moment the interim government decides to hold an election."
