Ecuador's foreign ministry has reinforced its decision not to grant safe passage for former Vice President Jorge Glas, despite a plea from Mexico's government. The diplomatic tension dates back to April when Ecuadorian authorities forcefully entered Mexico's embassy to detain Glas, leading Mexico to sever ties.

In response to Mexico's Monday request, the Ecuadorian ministry reiterated its previous stance, communicated in a statement initially released in April. The message was reaffirmed to journalists via WhatsApp, emphasizing their firm position.

Jorge Glas is currently imprisoned and had attempted suicide following his arrest. Mexico has also called for Glas to be moved to a safe place due to concerns for his health, but Ecuador has shown no signs of compliance.
