Jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged authorities to cease the ongoing crackdown on his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, attributing the unrest in Pakistan and Bangladesh to oppressive actions. Khan's statement came during a meeting with a group of lawyers in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.

Lawyer Intizar Panjutha, who was present during the conversation, reported that Khan believes the oppression witnessed before the February 8 election provoked severe reactions, which were evident in the public's response during the elections. Khan emphasized the need to rethink these decisions, pointing out inflation has further eroded Pakistan's economic stability.

Panjutha added that Khan reiterated his anti-corruption stance and applauded Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for his efforts. Khan also expressed his gratitude towards his supporters and urged them to display the national flag on August 13.
