Congress has leveled harsh criticism at Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, dismissing her claims that the party's 'propaganda' is responsible for hindering private investment as 'sheer desperation.'
Sitharaman had alleged a conspiracy by the Opposition to tarnish India's reputation and deter foreign investors, warning that economic instability could impede the nation's progress toward becoming a developed nation.
In a sharp rebuttal, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh highlighted issues such as erratic policy-making, exemplified by demonetization and the flawed GST rollout, rampant cronyism, and the climate of fear created by governmental agencies as the real culprits behind sluggish private investment.
