Police have registered an FIR against Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, the Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, along with BJP MLC C T Ravi and 11 other party officials. The charges stem from an unlawful assembly staged by the BJP leaders on Tuesday.
The protest took place at the Race Course road junction, with leaders demanding the resignation of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyanka Kharge. This demand follows the recent suicide of a civil contractor in Bidar, who left a note implicating an individual linked to Kharge.
Senior police officials confirmed that no permission was granted for the protest, resulting in a case against the party members for unlawful assembly. The FIR, filed based on a police complaint, cites sections of the Karnataka Open Place Disfigurement Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
