BJP veteran Gulab Chand Kataria was sworn in as the new Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh on Wednesday. The ceremony, held at Raj Bhavan, was administered by Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu.

The event saw the attendance of several dignitaries, including Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and former Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore. Key Punjab ministers, such as Harpal Singh Cheema and Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, were also present.

Kataria, aged 79, took the oath in Hindi, replacing Banwarilal Purohit, who resigned in February. Before his current appointment, Kataria served as the Governor of Assam. Hailing from Udaipur, he has twice served as Rajasthan's home minister and held multiple ministerial roles, including education and rural development, in his extensive political career.
