Green Card Holders Urged to Seek Citizenship and Vote
As election season heats up, efforts are ramping up to encourage Green Card holders, especially Asian and Indian Americans, to obtain citizenship and register to vote in the November 5 elections. With Vice President Kamala Harris energizing the demographic, activists stress the importance of timely citizenship, voter registration, and organizing efforts within the community.
Amid a heated election cycle, efforts to encourage Green Card holders to secure their citizenship and vote for the upcoming November 5 elections are gaining momentum. This push predominantly targets Asian Americans and Indian Americans, significant demographics within Green Card holders.
A Green Card grants permanent residency in the United States. Shekar Narasimhan, Chairman of the Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Victory Fund, emphasized the urgency. 'If you have a Green Card and have been here for five years, get your citizenship. Register to vote,' he told PTI.
The AAPI Victory Fund, a pioneering SuperPac aiming to build political power in the AAPI community, underscores the enthusiasm Vice President Kamala Harris has generated among Indian and other Asian Americans. Their votes could swing the tides in the upcoming elections.
