In a burgeoning controversy, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has called for legal proceedings against Delhi Mayor Mahesh Khichi, alleging illegal voter registration practices. Kapoor informed Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena that Khichi's wife appeared as two separate entities in the voter list.
The letter highlighted that ''Nidhi'' and ''Mamta'' are both registered as Khichi's wives for the Karol Bagh assembly constituency. In response, Mayor Khichi dismissed the claims, attributing the duplication to clerical errors, and insisted he has only one wife, Nidhi.
The BJP accused the Aam Aadmi Party of similar discrepancies. Khichi vowed to consult the Election Commission for rectification, acknowledging potential further irregularities at his address.
