India's Call for Peace: De-escalation in Gaza and Dialogue on Ukraine
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized India's stance on major conflicts, calling for de-escalation in Gaza and promoting dialogue and diplomacy in Ukraine. Speaking at the 14th East Asia Summit amidst ASEAN meetings, he underscored India's humanitarian efforts and commitment to maritime security and regional stability.
India has called for de-escalation and restraint in Gaza and emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar articulated India's stance during the 14th East Asia Summit's Foreign Ministers Meeting in the capital of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, as part of the ASEAN meetings.
Jaishankar addressed two significant global conflicts—between Israel and Palestine, threatening Gaza, and between Ukraine and Russia. He emphasized India's Act East Policy and the necessity of open maritime communication for Indo-Pacific stability.
Highlighting India's humanitarian efforts, Jaishankar mentioned the country's recent $2.5 million contribution to UNRWA for Palestinian refugees. He reiterated India's support for a two-state solution in Gaza and ongoing humanitarian aid efforts. On Ukraine, he stressed dialogue and diplomacy, citing recent engagements by Prime Minister Modi with Presidents Putin and Zelenskyy and India's readiness to assist in peace efforts.
