Nepal's Balanced Diplomacy: PM Oli's Stance on India and China Relations

Kathmandu, Nepal—Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli underscored Nepal's commitment to maintaining balanced and friendly relations with both India and China on Monday. Addressing a book release event, Oli stressed that occasional problems between neighbors are natural and can be resolved through open dialogue.
Oli emphasized that Nepal does not allow its land to be used against any neighboring country, advocating for honesty and neutrality. He called for resolving issues based on facts and proofs, adhering to international obligations and United Nations principles.
The Prime Minister also urged India to accept the Nepal-India Eminent Persons Group (EPG) Report, which includes recommendations for reviewing the 1950 Peace and Friendship Treaty. Highlighting past diplomatic successes, Oli recalled the 2016 Transit and Transport Agreement with China, which enhanced Nepal's trade infrastructure.
