In a fiery critique, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Harish Rao lambasted the state government led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, calling the recently presented state budget a significant letdown. Rao accused the Congress government of abandoning its manifesto and failing to deliver on critical promises.
Rao specifically highlighted the plight of women, pensioners, and students, pointing out that the budget did not address their needs. 'Congress has forgotten its manifesto. We expected good news for women, but the Mahalaxmi scheme turned out to be a major disappointment,' he said. He also criticized the government for failing to incorporate the Aasara pension plans into the budget, describing it as a betrayal to the poorest beneficiaries.
The BRS MLA continued his condemnation, mentioning the lack of provisions for unemployment allowances, job calendars, and job appointments. 'There is no job allocation mentioned in the budget. Even auto drivers and weavers have been let down,' he remarked. Rao further accused the Congress government of reducing allocation for key welfare schemes like Rythu Bharosa and neglecting the needs of minorities.
Taking a swipe at Congress figures Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, Rao argued that their promises have evaporated. 'The allocation for irrigation has decreased, and there's no mention of Dalit Bandhu and Girijana Bandhu Schemes,' he stated.
