External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, during a meeting in Vientiane, stressed the importance of 'full respect' for the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and past agreements to stabilize India-China bilateral relations. He met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi for the second time in a month.

Both leaders, attending ASEAN meetings, concurred on strong guidance for disengagement following the 2020 Ladakh standoff. Jaishankar said the border situation would reflect on bilateral ties, emphasizing peace as a prerequisite for normalcy.

The Ministry of External Affairs noted that their conversation focused on resolving LAC issues promptly. Both ministers agreed on mutual respect and sensitivity, aiming for early resolutions and strengthening China-India relations amidst current global challenges.
