Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the sudden demise of JD(U) national general secretary and spokesman, Rajib Ranjan.

According to party sources, Ranjan, 65, passed away at a hospital in Delhi soon after being admitted due to breathing difficulties.

In his condolence message, Kumar, the head of JD(U), lauded Ranjan as 'an able politician and a noted social activist.'

Ranjan, a native of Nalanda district like Kumar, had secured a win in the Islampur assembly constituency in 2010.

Diverging opinions with Kumar led Ranjan to join BJP in 2015, when it was in opposition.

In December 2022, Ranjan left BJP and rejoined JD(U) shortly after.
