Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has sharply criticized the Union Budget, labelling it a 'woefully missed opportunity' that highlights the government's economic mismanagement and financial recklessness. Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Tharoor argued that the budget fails to address critical needs, particularly in public healthcare.
Tharoor also took a swipe at the BJP for renaming health and wellness centres as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, accusing the government of rebranding instead of revamping essential services. He suggested that the BJP's focus on symbolic changes rather than substantive policy measures was detrimental to the country.
In his critique, Tharoor highlighted disparity in the budget allocations, favoring certain states like Bihar and Andhra Pradesh while ignoring others such as Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. He claimed that these allocations were politically motivated, aiming to appease regional allies rather than serving the broader national interest.
